Image Dimensions Checker: how it works
Pixel dimensions describe how much visual data an image contains, while file size describes the amount of storage it needs. A 1080 × 1920 PNG can be much larger in KB than a visually similar JPEG because the encoding methods differ. A dimension checker should show these properties independently.
What the checker reports
| Property | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pixel dimensions | Width and height of the original image |
| Aspect ratio | Width compared with height, reduced to the simplest terms |
| File size | Actual original-file size in KB |
| File format | Browser-recognized MIME type |
How to image dimensions checker
- Choose an image from your device. The editor opens the file locally.
- Inspect the original dimensions, aspect ratio, bytes and detected format.
- Use a relevant resizer linked below if you need to produce a different file.
Read original photo properties before editing
Upload a picture and look in the Image checker panel for its width, height, pixel aspect ratio, file type and file size. The readout reflects the original selected file, not a future export.
Before you download: limits and trade-offs
A file labeled 1080 × 1350 contains 1,458,000 pixels, while its kilobyte size depends on format and image complexity. Do not confuse size on disk with resolution or with displayed CSS dimensions.
Quick answers for this image task
Does the checker resize my image?
No. It reports original image details; choose Resize to change dimensions.
Will it show physical print dimensions in centimeters?
No. The checker reports pixels and byte-based file weight, not a guaranteed print size.
